the myriad of moments that make up the journey of Motherhood.

Our Curating team selected over 50 pieces of art and it now graces the walls of Miriam's Motherhood Center. You can view the art in the virtual gallery below.

About

Miriam’s Motherhood Center provides a space and community that supports
women in their holy work of motherhood. With a lounge, playroom, studio, and
shared office space, Miriam's Motherhood Center offers social, educational, and recreational opportunities for mothers and young children.

The new, state of the art center was looking to curate art that celebrates motherhood
and bring beautiful and meaningful art to the women that come through its doors.

One stalk in particular got me thinking about my mom and my thoughts stayed with her through the rest of the painting. I thought about the bread she made for our family, and about her hands tirelessly kneading. Her matriarchal loaves filled the freezer shelves with promises kept. I thought about her hard and admirable domestic work and the incredibly cozy home life she imbedded in every nook and cranny of my heart’s eternity. Wheat. It all begins there it seems. As it should.

Channah’s tefillah after giving birth to Shmuel is surrounded by the symbols of her name (challah/niddah/hadlakat nerot), her husband (at the bottom), and to the right Sarah with Yitzchak on
her lap, because this work was created for my daughter’s bat mitzvah. Her name is Channah Sarah.

Boundless Warmth

I wanted to create a painting that would be able to transport the viewer into a refreshing state of boundless warmth and love between a mother and her children. My goal was to achieve that by maintaining the color balance of capturing the cool breeze coming through the curtains together with the blue and purple dresses against the warm yellow and orange tones of the floor and wall behind them that complements the warmth that radiates between them.
